Daniyar Turganbayev, 3rd year student of KIMEP University, majoring in “Nurali Aliyev Information systems in business” bachelor program (BISB). He is also ZHANARTU Foundation’s scholar and we are proud of Daniyar’s achievements. Besides his excellent studies, Daniyar manages to participate and win in various competitions on Big Data and Business cases.
My name is Daniyar, I am 21, and I am from Almaty. I got into this unique program thanks to the ZHANARTU Charity Foundation.
During my school years I tried to understand myself and identify what should I choose to study further: IT or Economics. Both spheres were really interesting to me. Suddenly, I found that KIMEP University is opening a bachelor program that provides specialization in both – business and IT. I will be honest – I did not believe that it is real. It was too good to be true. After all, IT professionals often lack an entrepreneurial streak, they are often disconnected from the realities of business. And BISB program provides knowledge in both.
As a schoolboy, I spent my free time in a robotics lab. I had the honor to protect the pride of the Kazakh flag as a team’s captain at international competitions in robotics in Moscow (Russia) and in Washington D.C. (USA). The competition in Moscow is the largest in Europe (the total number of participants was more than 5,000!). At the finals, my team, being the only one from Kazakhstan, took the second place in the senior category and the first place in the Junior category. In the “First Global Challenge” world robotics Olympiad in Washington, our team took 8th place among 163 participating countries, ahead of Russia, China, the United States and Singapore.
I also successfully completed the course of creating my own startup from “Silicon Valley Innovation Center “and my team won the award for the “Best project presentation”. In addition to the competition, in our laboratory, our team and I have designed a 3D-printer that is superior in characteristics to its counterparts in our market, but its cost is about 30-40% cheaper.
As a student at KIMEP, my development path slightly changed. During my student studies, I began to understand how I can apply my skills and abilities most effectively. Now I am studying Big Data Analytics and practice solving business cases. I studied Big Data tools at Kaspi Lab, and also won prizes in case-Championships from Magnum, Technodom, and Leroy Merlin companies. For myself, I realize that Business Cases and Big Data have something in common — they optimize the work.
My long-term goal is to successfully lead my IT-consulting company. Just imagine how much of our country’s natural resources can be saved if we implement smart control systems in enterprises! I am extremely happy and grateful to Nurali Aliyev and his “ZHANARTU” Charity Foundation for the opportunity to study at the best University in the country, and for the fact that my specialty is at the junction of my main Hobbies: technology and business.
