On the eve of International Women’s Day, ZHANARTU Foundation devotes this material to the scholar of “Nurali Aliyev Bachelor of Information Systems in Business” program (hereinafter – BISB) at KIMEP University. Alua Nurbekova shared her story, why she chose BISB. Today Alua is enrolled in an exchange program at one of the strongest IT-universities in Singapore. Also she is working on research for the international congress in Turkey in the field of “Information Systems and the World of Business”.
Alua Nurbekova: “Who do I want to become?” – this question followed me at my high school. I wanted everything at once: humanitarian and technical, also perspective and demanded line of activity. I was invited by several universities in the home country and abroad for the programs “Business Administration” and”Automation and Management”. Different directions, aren’t they? Nevertheless, for some reason I felt that something was wrong, that neither nor the other fully met my requirements.
July 2018 has come. I have a call from KIMEP University offering to apply for a new program “Information Systems in Business”. Suddenly it seemed that this is exactly what I wanted. I immediately began to search information about this speciality, and the more I found, the more I realized that this is exactly what I was looking for! Indeed, this is such a flexible profession: I will get knowledge in business as well as in the field of information systems. Finally, I will learn how to manage a database, which is very important nowadays. Without thinking twice, I submitted my documents, went through the selection stages, and here I am, the scholar of Nurali Aliyev’ grant from ZHANARTU charity foundation.
Now the second year of my studies is coming, and I can say that each new class and lecture makes me feel that I made the right choice. During this year, I managed to live a student life, participate in all kinds of case competitions, upgrade my practical IT-skills, and to join student organizations. Recently I realized that I want to try exchange program. KIMEP collaborates with many universities, and I had a wide range of choices. Therefore, I have chosen Singapore Management University, where the School of Information Systems is one of the strongest in Asia. Now sitting and writing this essay from its campus, I can confirm this fact. I am glad to be able to gain such experience in order to introduce innovative changes in my country in the nearest future. While in Singapore, I also took part in a congress of research projects for the topic “Information Systems and the World of Business,” organized by the Turkish University. Finally, I was invited to defend my work this spring in Istanbul.
As you can see here I have such an exciting knowledge path at KIMEP University, and yet there is still a half of my bachelor studies ahead! My speciality opens up for me new countries and new opportunities. Therefore, I have big dreams for the future, which makes me extremely happy.
