Serikbek Doszhan, ZHANARTU Foundation’s scholar, always wanted to get an education in IT and business in Kazakhstan, not abroad. The “Nurali Aliyev Information systems in business” bachelor program (BISB) at KIMEP University met Doszhan’s needs.
My name is Doszhan, I am 20 years old, and I am from the city of Saryagash, Turkestan region. I graduated from Nazarbayev Intellectual school. And now I get valuable knowledge at KIMEP University on the BISB program thanks to a 100% grant from ZHANARTU Charity Foundation.
Like many other teenagers, I started exploring the computer world through games and various applications. I was also interested in art and painting as a child. I loved creating and drawing something by my own hands. And it gave me great pleasure, when everything worked out well. A few years later, information technology has become a kind of “great art” for me, displayed in a unique language that most people do not understand. After all, IT combines creativity, labor and technical skills and, as a result, creates cool and modern projects. My interest in programming started at school. I loved Math and actively participated in city and district Olympiads in Math and logic. I found it interesting and quite easy to create complex codes and projects.
For example, in the 10th grade, I started a project that automates the work of a restaurant administrator. After six months of hard work, I finished the project and presented it to the restaurant Manager. As a result, I integrated the app in a restaurant network, and earned some money as a bonus. From that moment on, I realized that in the future I wanted to become not just a programmer who sits in front of a computer all day, but a specialist who will be able to apply programming, art, and business altogether in his profession.
During my last year at school, I was thinking about where to find such a specialty. I studied foreign universities, found good options for universities in Hungary and the United States. But my intuition told me that it was not exactly what I wanted. I always wanted to study only in our country, in Kazakhstan. And here I found the news about the launch of the bachelor’s program “Information systems in business” at KIMEP University. This was exactly the direction, which I envisioned my future!
I am immensely happy and grateful to Mr. Nurali Aliyev for his faith in youth! Despite the fact that this is a new and somewhat risky direction in our country, still he invested in this program. The program allows students to discover their IT and business potential and get a high-quality education in such a strong University as KIMEP University. I will try to meet all expectations and, in the future, develop the information technology sector in Kazakhstan, using the knowledge gained in this program.
