KIMEP is now offering completely new program for undergraduates. What are this new program, why was it introduced and what opportunities will it bring for KIMEP students, in this exclusive material from the reporters of KIMEP TIMES magazine.
On December 8, 2017, Dr. Bang met with Nurali Aliyev, a well-known Kazakh entrepreneur, at an official ceremony at KIMEP University in order to introduce a new «The Nurali Aliyev Bachelor of Information Systems in Business» degree program. Mr. Aliyev actively researches opportunities to support the young IT generation in Kazakhstan. He is also the founder of ZHANARTU Charity Foundation, with whose help our university is establishing a completely new program.
Dr. Chan Young Bang, President of KIMEP University, highlighted how important this collaboration is to our university and how it would provide an opportunity to expand the boundaries of business studies, as well as the use of new technologies for the development of the economy in Kazakhstan. Dr. Bang pointed out that the main goal of this academic program is to comply with all international educational standards and train highly-qualified specialists in the IT sphere.
The program curriculum will have several important and interesting disciplines, such as database management, project management, big data, information security, e-business, supply chains and other information courses. The new program requires more IT professors, and one, a computer specialist, will be provided by ZHANARTU Charity Foundation.
Additionally, students already enrolled in other programs may combine IT with other disciplines — for example, economics, accounting, marketing and business management. As the Bachelor of Information Systems in Business is one of the BCB undergraduate programs, students can transfer to this program just like they transfer to any other BCB program. Moreover, students near the end of their bachelor degree can obtain a minor or double minor degree if they take additional information systems specialization courses.
Graduates from this program will be specialists in high demand on the international market. Their skills in information technologies, with business skills gleaned from the best business professors, will create great experts in several industries.
As well, Mr. Aliyev announced the establishment of an international information technology conference which will be held at KIMEP University. The conference will feature the expertise of IT professionals from around the world about different issues, and it will focus on the newly-presented program. The objective of this conference will be both the dissemination of information regarding the use of information technology in the development and optimization of productivity across business spheres.
This program will attract more than 30 freshmen to our university. KIMEP guarantees to provide 10 full-tuition, 4-year scholarships to the inaugural class in order to study this new program, and an addition 10 scholarships will be sponsored by ZHANARTU.
